
Shrubbery Nightingale Park
Shrubbery Nightingale Park - About 5 minutes walk from Himshikha , the Shrubbery Nightingale Park in Darjeeling is a beautiful public park area. It's ideal for relaxing and enjoying the superb views of the Kanchenjunga and the other snow peaks of Eastern Himalayas. During the tourist season, Nepali cultural programs like local dances are held here everyday in the evening. During the British days in early 1900s, this place was known as The Shrubbery. It used to be the private courtyard of Sir Thomas Tartan's Bungalow.

Chowrasta - The Mall
Set atop a hill, Chowrasta is the crown of Darjeeling town which is always bustling with activity. People of all ages come for walks to this uptown area. The area is studded with curio shops, tea boutiques , bakeries and Clothing stores. Tourists and locals normally start and end their day at Chowrasta which also has an amphitheatre. There is also a 'Mall Road' which offers breath taking views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and neighbouring peaks on a clear day.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is located 10 mins away from Himshikha Homestay. It was started in early 1950s to encourage mountaineering as an organised sport in India. The institute has the final resting place of Tenzing Norgay, one of the first people to scale the Mount Everest. It harbors an enormous collection of Mountaineering artifacts, hundreds of pictures and equipment of most of the mountaineers : past and present.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
Located 10 minutes away from Himshikha Homestay is the famed Darjeeling zoo which is the largest high altitude zoo in India. The zoo holds a breeding centre of the Red Panda , Himalayan Wolf and Snow Leopard. Being located in the same hill as the HMI, One can visit both the zoo and HMI in half a day.
